LIUNA Minnesota & North Dakota is proud to promote the Minnesota Laborers-Employers Cooperation & Education Trust (LECET), LIUNA Local 563, Building Trades Credit Union and Minnesota AFL-CIO 2019 leadership grants and scholarships. Please spread the word and apply!

Minnesota LECET Leadership Grants

Minnesota LECET is providing a limited number of leadership development assistance grants up to $1,000 for eligible Minnesota Laborers' Union members working in the construction industry. To qualify for a leadership grant, candidates must be a current LIUNA Minnesota & North Dakota member, in good standing with their LIUNA Local Union. Apprentices are not eligible for this award. Strong consideration is given to applicants who have utilized training offered by the LIUNA Training Center. The purpose of the leadership development grants is to help members further their construction industry development training through academic course work not provided by the LIUNA Training Center relating to construction management and construction site leadership. Applications must be received by June 1, 2019. Please see application and rules below.

Minnesota LECET Academic Scholarships

Minnesota LECET is providing a limited number of academic scholarships up to $1,000 for eligible Minnesota Laborers' Union members, or their immediate family member, or any current Signatory Contractor Employer employee staff member or their immediate family. Interns working for the Union Contractor employer are also eligible. Candidates must be students currently enrolled in their 2nd year year or greater at a higher education academic institution with a declared major in a construction industry related program. Applications must be received by June 1, 2019. Please see application and rules below.

LIUNA Local 563 Scholarships

LIUNA Local 563 is providing ten $1,000 scholarships for eligible Local 563 dependents. Candidates must be a dependent of a Local 563 member in good standing and a graduating senior with a "B" average (or its numerical equivalent) or better. Applications must be received by July 25, 2019. Please see application and rules below. 

Building Trades Credit Union Scholarships

The Building Trades Credit Union is awarding 20 $250 scholarships to students enrolled in a union apprentice training program and five $1,000 scholarships to other students pursuing a post-secondary education (college, vocational or technical school). Applicants must have an individual savings account and be a member in good standing at BTCU and have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Applications must be received by June 15, 2019. Minnesota AFL-CIO Scholarships

The Minnesota AFL-CIO is sponsoring five scholarships for high school seniors graduating in 2018. Two $1,000 David K. Roe Scholarships and two $1,000 Hubert H. Humphrey Memorial Awards will be awarded to college or university applicants. One $1,000 Donald Pilla Memorial Award will be awarded to vocational or technical applicants. Applicants must be a union member or a dependent of a union member whose local union is affiliated with the Minnesota AFL-CIO, have a straight "B" average or better (2.0 in a 3.0 grade point system/3.0 in a 4.0 grade point system), and attend a post-secondary institution located within the state of Minnesota.
